Authenticity

Claims should be supported, specific and visible.

No artist or work is described as verified until the relevant evidence has been reviewed. Each published record should distinguish artist identity, authorship, ownership, condition and certificate status.

Artist identity

A verification label appears only when the supporting identity evidence has been reviewed.

Authorship and ownership

Authorship, current ownership, authority to sell and any gallery relationship are confirmed separately for the relevant work.

Artwork record

Published records aim to identify the title, date, medium, dimensions, edition, condition, location, imagery, credit and known rights status.

Certificate status

A certificate is described only when its issuer, format, relationship to the work and delivery method are known.
